Wilderness Ruckomechi, Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

Situated in a large private concession in the heart of the Zambezi Valley's Mana Pools National Park, Wilderness Ruckomechi looks out from the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, gazing out towards Zambia’s evocative escarpment. Its broad-canopied albida trees create glorious shade throughout the camp, and are much loved by the elephants for their rich, nutritious seeds. Discover the concession by vehicle or exploring on foot, while boating and canoeing allow for a different perspective of the area.

Ten spacious and beautifully decorated tents (including two family rooms), along with a generous central living space, enjoy the broad vista of the Zambezi River. There is a separate pool area, a unique outdoor “bath with a view” in a secluded, scenic spot, and a romantic Star Bed by a busy waterhole.

One of the many things we are most proud to share with our guests are the wide open spaces and amazing viewing encounters with wild animals in their natural habitat. Explore the varying habitats within our private concession, as well as the National Park, accessing a diversity of habitats, and therefore a wide range of wildlife which resides in each one.

Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views. The area offers large concentrations of buffalos, and elephants; while predators such as lions, wild dogs, leopard, and cheetah are often sighted. Greater kudu, Burchell's zebra, impala, warthog, and common waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains; while the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Birdlife is superb, with numerous local specials like collared palm-thrush, and racket-tailed roller.
